Rosa glauca is a rose with many virtues. The coppery-mauve, glaucous foliage clothing purple stems remains attractive throughout the growing season. Just once a year, small, pink flowers are borne in pretty bunches, quickly followed by dark red hips complete with whiskers. Being virtually thornless it’s an easily maintained shrub. Rosa glauca works well at the back of a border planted with mauve and pink flowers and around other silver and purple foliage plants.
